Renegades Move through the gears in 2015

Posted by THE BOSS on February 25, 2015 at 6:30 AM

2015 has seen an impressive start to a new year for the Renegades and has pushed them into pole position for WEBBA'S division I title race.

Before Christmas Renegades in  injury crisis Renegades lost two crucial games to Swindon Shock 1 and Bristol Uni allowing Swindon Shock to climb to the top of the table with the league destiny squarely in their hands, if they won the remainder of their games they would win the league with a better head to head score over Renegades both winning 1 game each in the match up. UWE however handed out the Shock result of 2015 when they dramatically defeated the league leaders by 1 point last weekend.

Now their seems to be a 3 horse race with Bristol University also in the chase for the season honours and just 1 game behind the Renegades with a meeting between the teams to come. Renegades have their destiny now solely in their hands as they have 1 less loss than both the University and Shock teams and by winning all of their remaining games would win the title.

Renegades are also undefeated in the Cup and Trophy competitions and have progressed to both of the competitions Quarter final stages. This is a fantastic position to be in with an opportunity to win some silverware this season very much a reality.

Renegades have moved through the injury crisis and also added some more ammunition in the form of Young Guns Patryk Kaczuba and Nathan Doe as new young recruits to the team both of whom are under 19 years of age. Also returning to fitness and action are Kev Thomas and Roger Moore both adding considerable experience to the team.

The squad has seen Big Ben Lakin really shine recently after a season last year riddled with injury, this season he is a Big target and is certainly putting numbers up to match. Renegades whole squad is full of talent and on any one night they can light up a game, with recent performances the team has shown just how commited to the team ethos they are with fantastic team basketball, defensively and offensively.

This was never more evident than with the two back to back defeats of UWE who were bouyed with their Recent victory over former League Leaders Swindon Shock.
